I was feeding someone's cats this weekend, which put me on an Egyptian bent. But, since I actually prefer dogs, I decided to paint anubis instead of Bast.

Thanks! This is from when I was really taking cues from Scott Morse.

Heh, upside down pyramids, underworld. I get it.

I think that the purples and the golds/yellow/orange go together very well. And art inspired by Egyptian mythology is always interesting

Thank you. When people think egypt, the yalways think "yellow, orange, and sapphire blue." But since this is the underworld, I used the negatives of those colors.
According to the legend, Anubis weighs your soul against a feather. If your soul is lighter than a feather, you go to heaven. If not, you get devoured by the eater of souls. I wonder how his digestive system works?
Did you dig the upside-down pyramids?

Oh yeah, I know about the Anubis legend. I studied that in World Mythology.

If you didn't say anything, I don't think I would have noticed the pyramids. But they make for a nice, more subliminal element. That shape helps move the eye around the picture.
