I was feeding someone's cats this weekend, which put me on an Egyptian bent. But, since I actually prefer dogs, I decided to paint anubis instead of Bast.
Thank you. When people think egypt, the yalways think "yellow, orange, and sapphire blue." But since this is the underworld, I used the negatives of those colors. According to the legend, Anubis weighs your soul against a feather. If your soul is lighter than a feather, you go to heaven. If not, you get devoured by the eater of souls. I wonder how his digestive system works? Did you dig the upside-down pyramids?
Oh yeah, I know about the Anubis legend. I studied that in World Mythology.
If you didn't say anything, I don't think I would have noticed the pyramids. But they make for a nice, more subliminal element. That shape helps move the eye around the picture.
